Flashover/extreme heat
A flashover is a near-simultaneous ignition of all combustible material in an enclosed area. This occurs when a confined fire gives off hot smoke and gases within a closed space, the hot gas then heating other surfaces to a burning temperature so that they also give off hot gases. When a supply of oxygen is introduced through, for example, an opening door, the flammable gases in the air are instantly ignited. We’re talking about an extreme environment – flashover temperatures can exceed 600ºC (1112ºF).
SAVOX Communications has special expertise in designing products that withstand extreme heat. When required, we equip our products with flashover-proof cables.
